On Monday September 7th, Foolish Behaviour can't make it, but in our place we've lined up Five Field Holler, a really talented band that like to play original material in a New Orleans funky blues style. They recently played the Bentworth Blues Weekend and are playing alongside such greats as Eugene 'Hideaway' Bridges at the Lakeside Blues Bonanza in Hayling Island this coming January. Gig starts at 9pm ( Hugh will be joining them to make up a four piece ) and we will again be collecting for Naomi House so if you want to donate a couple or a few quid that'd be much appreciated.
The Black Boy is on Wharf Hill in Winchester, click here to see where.
"Five Field Holler are four guys from the Southwest London area, who like to get together and jam on some funky blues grooves. The band is Chris Saunders on guitar & voice, Emil Engström on bass, keyboard maestro Marco Andreose and Robin Lowrey on drums. We write our own material and re-arrange older classics. You won't find any renditions of Everyday I Have The Blues or Stormy Monday, but you will find songs inspired by topics as diverse as reality TV and the credit crunch. Influences range from the classic blues of the 50s and 60s, the New Orleans funk of Professor Longhair, Doctor John and The Meters, slippery Blue Note soul-jazz, modern funk outfits like the New Mastersounds, and greasy Stax flavoured R'n'B."
